The Great Northern Lacrosse (GNLL) Boys Youth Pre-Season Modified Indoor Field League  (March - April) provides a fun, safe and supportive environment where area youth teams compete, learn, and grow.

Participating teams play 6 regular season games throughout March & April at conveniently located regional indoor arenas. Games run hourly on Saturdays & Sundays and consist of three 15-minute periods.

Regular Season: 5 weeks- Saturday & Sundays, March 15  - April 13, 2025. Games run between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM.

Locations:
- Northeast: Northeast Ice Arena
- Southeast: Eagan Civic Arena
- Northwest: Anoka Ice Arena
- Southwest: Hopkins Pavilion / St. Louis Park ROC

Divisions: 14U / 12U / 10U

Rules: Minnesota Youth Lacrosse Rules with GNLL Youth Modified Indoor Field Rules Variations

This is a hybrid game between field and box.  This means that the participants will NOT be playing "real" box lacrosse, which means there will not be the following:

  • Players will not be allowed to cross-check.
  • There will be no 30-second shot clock.
  • The rules will be similar to the previous years of the YBL.
  • Players will not need to purchase bicep or kidney pads.

The purpose of this league is to develop lacrosse skills for all participants and that they have fun in a safe environment. This is great preparation for playing real box lacrosse and enhancing players overall lacrosse skills and IQ!

Box League Equipment

What type of equipment is required for indoor box lacrosse? The same as field lacrosse.  See our overview here.

Goalies in Box lacrosse wear a lot more pads then the field version.  As an association, we will provide goalie equipment for each team.   We just need players to give the position a try.  If no players volunteer to play goalie for games, your coach will assign a player.
